Though I’m not ordinarily a Paula fan, I’m taking lessons from Paula tonight.

To the rude, obnoxious guy, she said, “You’ve got personality.” To the nervous girl, she said, “I’m concerned that your nerves held back your performance.” To the woman who wouldn’t leave the room, she said, “I love your confidence.”

It was clear what she meant, but it didn’t feel passive-aggressive. I thought she was kindly telling the truth, even while she was firmly telling them no not ever.
