i don't deal well with any of the church talk. i can't say "sinner", or "redemption" or especially "saved" without adding a really sarcastic "-uh" at the end of each word. perhaps it is a painful throwback to the time in my life when i had internalized everything that was being said/behaved in my congregation. i was ready to have someone else do my deeper believing and then let me know what i thought of it in the end. it might have worked for a brief time.

the whole idea of confession is problematic. getting it off my chest does nothing for the problem. sin can hardly be defined, who gets to dictate the behavior that should follow? i think perusing a website filled with confessions might be a sin, depending on the motivation.

Well said Chutney. I agree, we should be helping others with the task that is simply "being human." We can to this! We have a lot to say re: it! I think "the way" is somewhere between the sort of Evangelical exaggeration illustrated above and the total avoidance of the issues by religious liberals. As always ... it is about balance.

As an aside, I would much rather be given access to a one on one, real-time confession (ala Catholics) then the online version you showcase above. Eh ...
