I participated in the rally for Denmark a defended the right to publish something offensive... ....but I sure agree with these comments on the cartoons: It's sleazy and dangerous for politicians to be scoring points against Islam in a continent where Bosnian Muslims were being put in concentration camps until America intervened. --an advisor to Jordan's King Abdullah quoted page 28 of The Economist of Feb 11, 2006.

Fundamentalism was very Protestant and American interpretation of Chistianity. It makes little sense in a Islamic context. Grand Aytollah Sistani has taken a pretty strong statement against the rioting pointing out it's Political (and Syrian) motivations. Takes some guts to talk like this in the Arab world. Here is a blogger talking about him. Link. He referred to 'misguided and oppressive' segments of the Muslim community and said their actions 'projected a distorted and dark image of the faith of justice, love and brotherhood.' 'Enemies have exploited this ... to spread their poison and revive their old hatreds with new methods and mechanisms,' he said.'"

Yeah, and thanks to Wikipedia for the lo-res pic of the cartoons or else I don’t think I would have seen them. Where’s the American press to offer a look-see? Probably scared, but I’m even more worried about the claims that the Danish journalists were irresponsible. Bah. Freedom isn’t freedom if it can be closed down by the will of the uncomfortable.

The evidence indicates that Muslim findamentalists cannot take a joke and do not have much of a sense of humor.
