Each mom has to say what the $50,000 should be used for in the other family. The nice mom alloted the christiany lady a bunch of money for the gastric-bypass surgery she'd been wanting, as well as a sum for her daughter to study dance and for her other daughter and granddaughter to get a place of their own. So, the christiany lady decided to take the money in the end, after she ripped up the check. Heh.
