Look: Knowledge brings sadness, knowledge brings happiness but is more healthy think about a "God" without all that religic stuff and cult trap, I mean that is more "healthy" think and believe just in "God" itself.
To me is more happy believe just in god to die happy, 'cause if there isn't nothing beyond the death at least i'll die happy and if there's something beyond death... that's is my backup plan.

I used to call myself an atheist until reading Paul Tillich's sermon on The New Being. It dawned on me belief and unbelief were flip sides of the same coin and the unbeliever often gave stronger evidence of God's presence because the atheists sought God and couldn't find God.

Harris is about three centuries too late to be at the vanguard. But I'm sure he'd claim being the vanguard too if you sent him a note about it. ;-)

If I read my Karen Armstrong correctly, the original Roman charge of "atheism" meant one denied the existence of someone else's god. It was the charge most often levelled at the early Christians because of their denial of the Roman gods. Perhaps Harris is at the vanguard of a neo-classical revival of Roman atheism?
