I have a broad definition of liberation. For example, stories of transfoming wonder function to free people from old thought patterns, and from self satisfaction, well before they commit themselves to practice that might overcome any of the many systemic oppressions.

I think the notion of a "pre-covenant" is helpful, but I think that idea needs to be further developed. I was refering to founding team of an emergent (UU) church start. But isn't there a "pre-covenant" with every one who comes in the door, that iI hope is expressed in the opening words, or invocation.

Also I notice a difference between the "media review" of emergent worship that Chutney reports on in her first post on "emergent UU worship and her own analysis that stresses the ways in which these churches involve people in the community.
