And in the granola homebirth community it is considered vegetarian (since someone asked). Eating the placenta after birth can prevent hemorrhage for a mother. It is widely supposed that other animals eat it for this reason. I’ve seen a couple placentas up close and couldn’t really think about eating them. Some say it is a little gross and some say it is good eating. If anyone asks, I just say “it tastes just like chicken.”
