I suppose confrontation is only an early step on the way toward reconciliation?

I love the group therapy idea. Me and god haven't been on speaking terms so much for a while now. Might help.

Now I'm toying around with other models too---intervention, encounter group. Maybe what we really need is something like the "<a href="http://www.breaking-the-ice.de/about.php">Breaking the Ice</a>" model. They recently used it for a group of Israelis and Palestinians. If it worked for those antagonists, maybe it could even work for god and humanity!

Heather MacDonald may be on to something there. But she doesn't take her analysis far enough. It seems to me the blame rests with us, not God, in her scenario: essentially, human beings (well, theists at least), have all become a pack of enablers. God gets away with all sorts of malfeasance because everybody else acts like an abused spouse, excusing away the violent tantrums and focusing on a fantasy-image of the abuser. Maybe God and humanity need group therapy?
