Consumption as self-definition, ritual of belonging, as secular sacrement. Reminds me to those who spend most of their time in visiting a museum in the gift shop. They can only “take in” the art fully by owning an item somehow imprinted with the art, or related to it by continguity. “I may not understand it, but I wear it.”
